B'nai Israel is an inclusive, membership-based community.
Finding the right congregation is an important decision for anyone, and we are delighted that you are considering us. Our members have a voice in shaping this community, and demonstrate their commitment to its future, to the future of Reform Judaism, and to progressive Jewish values in the world.

Joining a synagogue is more than becoming a member. It is truly joining in a shared journey with a kehillah k’doshah, a sacred community. Our community embraces the Jewish value of honoring every person made in the Divine image. We warmly welcome Jews, and those in relationships with Jews, who seek to be part of our congregation, regardless of age, marital status, race or sexual orientation.

We offer several options for Membership. CBI's goal is that finances should never be a barrier to being part of our community.  Our executive director will work with you confidentially to determine a comfortable financial commitment for your household. Everyone is welcome.

  • Full Membership - Membership to CBI helps sustain our Jewish community. Annual membership commitments can be found HERE
  • Associate Membership - This membership is for households who wish to support CBI while being a full member at another Temple.  The annual membership commitment is $510.
  • NEW! Friends of CBI Membership - this membership is available to households who live outside of the area serviced by the Jewish Federation of Sacramento Region.  The annual membership commitment of $180 provides access to members-only virtual services and programming.
  • Gift a Membership! We invite you to welcome a relative, friend or neighbor to experience membership at CBI through The Gift Membership Program. There is no cost to you or to the Gift Member family. If you pay at the full pledge amount and are current in your pledge commitments, you can gift a one-time annual membership to someone in the community who is seeking a Jewish home, as long as they are not also affiliated with another congregation in the area. Gifting is a way for us to introduce new prospective members to our community. To gift a membership, please email Leslie at
