Israel Committee Program

Wednesday, May 3, 2023 12 Iyar 5783

7:00 PM - 9:00 PMChapel and Zoom

NadavTamirJoin us for a unique opportunity to hear from Nadav Tamir while he is visiting the U.S. He has an impressive breadth of experience as an Israeli diplomat and policy advisor with a deep knowledge of U.S./Israeli relations.

Nadav will give us an update on Israel’s crisis of democracy: the divisions in Israeli society and implications for the U.S./Israel relationship as well as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. We will have a conversation about the role we can play as American Jews to oppose destructive policies and to support efforts here and in Israel to safeguard our shared democratic and Jewish values.

Nadav Tamir served in the Israeli Foreign Ministry beginning in 1993. He was Political Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, and, from 2006 to 2010, he was the Israeli Consul General to New England. Upon returning to Israel, he joined the Policy Planning Unit of the Israeli Foreign Ministry until he became a senior adviser to the president under Shimon Peres. Currently, he is an adviser for international affairs at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, a member of the board of the Mitvim think tank, and a member of the steering committee of the Geneva Initiative. He earned his MA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

This event is co-sponsored by the CBI Israel Committee, the Israel Peace Alternatives group at Congregation Bet Haverim, and J Street.
