Jews by Choice and Conversion
Jews by Choice
Jews by Choice, or individuals who have chosen to convert to Judaism (or who are considering converting to Judaism) are an integral part of the B'nai Israel community. In addition, individuals who have not converted to Judaism but who are interested in exploring or just experiencing Judaism are always welcome to join our community and our programs.
Conversion to Judaism is a significant act of personal religious commitment, and those who are considering becoming Jewish are encouraged to meet with our rabbi to learn more about the process. Please email the Rabbi's Executive Assistant, Ryanne Steele, or call her at 916-446-4861.
Our library has a wealth of resources regarding conversion.
Primary texts:
- A. Diamant, Choosing a Jewish Life
- M. Strassfield, The Jewish Holidays
- Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Judaism
- Olitzky and Isaacs, The 3rd How to Handbook for Jewish Living
