Supporting CBI'S High Holy Days Appeal
For nearly 180 years, Congregation B’nai Israel has been a vibrant center of Jewish life in Sacramento — rooted in community, guided by faith, and committed to service. Our annual High Holy Days Appeal reflects the core values of generosity and shared responsibility, helping us sustain our sacred community and fulfill our mission of tikkun olam — repairing the world. Support the Central Downtown Food Basket —
A CBI High Holy Days Tradition
Every year at this time, for over three decades, our congregation has filled our foyers with donations of canned goods and nonperishable food items for the Central Downtown Food Basket (CDFB) to support their work to feed over 1800 food-insecure households in the greater Sacramento area each month.
This year, to have the most impact, we hope you will join our "TSC Campaign" and fill our foyers with donations of tuna, soup, and checks – the most needed CDFB items . CDFB’s buying power enables them to buy $2 to $3 worth of food for every $1 donated. Donations can be made by dropping off a check (made payable to Central Downtown Food Basked) in the collection boxes in our Sanctuary foyers . Bags of canned goods and nonperishable food items of all types are still welcome and encouraged. Donations can also be made on the CDFB website: www.cdfb.org.
In addition to supporting the CDFB, please consider making a donation to Congregation B’nai Israel’s Caring Community Fund to support our fellow congregants. (On the donations page, select “Caring Community Restricted Fund” in the pulldown menu.)
