Camp Shelanu is CBI’s day camp for children entering kindergarten through 8th grade! We welcome all children to an environment that fosters lasting friendships, strengthens Jewish identity, and increases pride in Jewish heritage.

NEW - Summer 2020 - Camp Shelanu... Babayit! 

This summer, we are bringing camp to you! Camp Shelanu Babayit (Our Camp at Home) will encourage a sense of community and connection in campers, all while keeping our Camp Shelanu traditions alive. Campers will have the opportunity to explore nature, art, music, dance, drama, sports, cooking and Jewish and Israeli culture through a mix of Zoom gatherings, pre-recorded videos, and at-home activities.

Dates & Themes
Session 1: July 13th – 17th (Heroes)
Session 2: July 20th – 24th (Around the world)
*Note – Additional sessions may be added as the summer progresses.

Camp box

On the Sunday before each session, families will come pick up their box of supplies from Congregation B'nai Israel. The box will contain all items needed for the activities that week.


Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel-Aviv (K - 5th grade): 

  • 9:00 - 9:30 am Opening circle (All campers come together for morning songs and announcements)
  • 9:30 - 10:15 am Activity #1 (These programs include: team building, community programs, Israel education, and more!)
  • 10:15 - 10:30 am Snack/break (Campers can snack and chat with their group)
  • 10:30 - 11:15 am Activity #2 (Campers will participate in a different activity every day, including sports, art, cooking, a mystery program, and a special Shabbat activity)
  • 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm Chug (Campers choose one program, and spend the week learning, exploring, and practicing new skills)
  • 3:15 - 3:30 pm Snack/break
  • 3:30 - 4:00 pm Closing circle (All campers come together to reflect on and share about the day, and sing camp songs)

Tayarim (6th-8th grade): 

Tayarim campers will have the same schedule as the rest of camp, and they will have their own adventure programming from 10:30 - 11:15 am.

CIT's (9th-12th grade):

All CIT's will join staff training on July 6th, 7th, and 10th where they will receive an introduction to Camp Shelanu, and begin their training.

CIT's can register for one or more sessions, and will have the following schedule:

  • 9:00 - 10:15 am CIT's are participating in camp programming along with their pre-assigned group.
  • 10:30 - 11:30 am CIT training (CIT's will learn leadership skills, gain work experience, and learn how to create and lead programs)
  • 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm Chug (CIT's will assist and participate with one chug)
  • 3:15 - 3:30 pm Snack/break
  • 3:30 - 4:00 pm Closing circle

Tayarim $125 per session $150 per session
CIT's $50 per session $75 1st session. $50 each additional session


Volunteer Specialists!

Calling all folks bored in quarantine! Do you have a special hobby/talent/skill that you’ve picked up in this time, or a skill that you are really proud of and want to share? Have a few hours in July to spare to teach your hobby or talent to kids entering K-8th grade? 

Camp Shelanu is looking for SPECIALISTS to teach our morning and afternoon chugim (activities). Please see dates & details below! 


Join us July 6-8th for staff training

Camp Dates: 

  • July 13-17th (Session 1) 

  • July 20-24th (Session 2) 

Morning Chug: 10:30 - 11:15 am

Afternoon Chug: 2:30 - 3:15 pm

WHERE: Zoom! 

WHAT: IDEAS- guitar/ukulele, arts & crafts, cooking, sports/yoga/israeli dance, or an activity YOU are passionate about & can teach! 

  • Structure: 

    • MORNING SPECIALISTS (every camp day from 10:30-11:15 AM) : specialists will lead an activity 3-4 times a week, each day with a different age group. 

    • AFTERNOON SPECIALISTS (every camp day from 2:30-3:15 PM) : At the beginning of each session, campers will have a chance to select one activity that they’ll do consistently throughout the session, and at the end of the week will present what they’ve learned to all of camp! Afternoon Chug will be 4 sessions and then an opportunity to present what campers have learned to the community on Friday.

Due to the financial impacts of COVID-19, we are seeking volunteer specialists at this time. Thank you in for your generosity & willingness to give back to our camp/synagogue community!

We are looking for compassionate, fun, and creative camp staff to help make this summer as special as possible. If you like to play, sing, create, laugh and interact with campers between 5 and 15 years old, we invite you to be a part of our Camp Shelanu Babayit team. Counselors must be at least 18 and have camp experience and/or experience working with kids.


Staff training: July 6-8th, and 10th

Camp Dates: 

  • July 13-17th (Session 1) 

  • July 20-24th (Session 2) 


M-F 9:00-10:15 am, 2:30-4:00 pm

WHERE: Zoom! 


Counselors are responsible for planning and leading 2-3 small group activities/games per week, and working directly with their counselors-in-training. Working knowledge of Jewish culture strongly preferred. Applicants must be enthusiastic, flexible, and responsible when working with peers, campers, and parents. Experience leading online meetings highly recommended.
