Rabbi Galit Cohen-Kedem Returns to CBI on Tuesday, May 13

Support Rabbi Galit and our sister Reform congregation in Holon, Israel, during these tumultuous and difficult times.

Our friend Rabbi Galit Cohen-Kedem, the spiritual leader of Kehillat Kodesh v’Chol in Holon, will visit Congregation B’nai Israel on Tuesday, May 13, and you are invited to join us for two informative programs. For planning purposes, please RSVP below for either or both events by Friday, May 9.

Many of us know Rabbi Galit well from her prior visits and from the sabbatical year that she spent with us as our educator. If you haven’t met her, then this is a great opportunity. So come to meet Rabbi Galit or reconnect, and catch up on important news about the challenges facing Israeli society and particularly her congregation and the entire Reform community in Israel today.

Please note: Current plans are preliminary and will be updated as necessary. Watch for details via the Chadashot or standalone email.

12:00 PM: Lunch & Discussion with Rabbi Galit & Rabbi Alfi

Join Rabbi Galit and Rabbi Alfi for a brown bag lunch – you bring your lunch, we’ll bring the cookies – and an opportunity to discuss recent events in Israel. These include Kodesh v’Chol’s efforts to obtain a permanent home after the city of Holon withdrew its offer of a site because of a change in government, as well as the mob attack on a Reform synagogue in Raanana (a suburb northeast of Tel Aviv) that was screening a joint Israeli/Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony.

7:00 PM: Israeli War Spotify – A Workshop with Rabbi Galit

The shock of October 7, the hostage crisis, and unending war have deeply affected Israeli society and culture. Rabbi Galit will present a workshop on how this manifests itself through Israeli music. Join us to experience a different way to understand these difficult issues.
